WOW! What a busy and hard working week we have had. I have been SO impressed with everyone’s behaviour this week and how focused everyone has been on their learning. This makes me very happy! Here is a little round-up of what we have been doing:

Numeracy: In Numeracy this week, we moved on to have a look at number patterns and sequences. I have been very impressed with how well everyone has coped with this so far. We mainly looked at identifying the rule that a sequence follows and how to continue the pattern. Next week, we will move on to look at multiples and some of us will be learning about square numbers. With Miss Shaw, you started looking at volume and how to convert between milliltres and litres. Miss Shaw will be concentrating on volume for a couple of weeks and then moving on to time.

Literacy: Our focus in our literacy workshop this week has been on contractions. This is when a word is shortened and an apostrophe takes the place of a missing letter or letters. For example, what’s = what is. We will be moving on next week to have a look at possessive apostrophes and how to use them. In writing, we have been looking at how to write a biography. We started by identifying the features of a biography and then moved on to plan our own. We took a class vote and the first person that we wanted to learn and write about was Taylor Swift. Next, we will look at Ronaldo. In a couple of weeks, you will have the chance to pick your own famous person and do some research about them so that you can write your biography in class.

IDL: I hope that you enjoyed our Assembly on Tuesday. I am extremely proud of how well everybody did. Next week, we are moving away from Racism and going to take a look at a Science-based topic. I won’t ruin the surprise yet though…

Health and Wellbeing: This week, we took a close look at friendships and the characteristic that makes a good friend. We thought about what characteristics are very important, pretty important or desirable but not so important. We then created a WANTED poster for a good friend – what good fun this was!

Onto this week….
